Optical links provide an ideal solution for meeting the growing demand for data transfer within co-packaged devices as well as, between data centers. They offer high capacity, low latency, and low power consumption, making them more efficient and cost-effective than traditional electrical connections. This article looks at the compromise between enabling technologies and the potential impact on data centers' capabilities.
